The NYS Strength and Power Hall of Fame Selection Committee is proud to induct its newest 2016 member, Mr. Vince “VIP” Peterson! Vince is a true pioneer of the sport, and continues to be a source of inspiration for all that come into contact with him on the platform, and otherwise. For over 6 decades, Vince has competed alongside the greatest names in the sport. VIP always conducts himself as a champion and gentleman ought to, and is beloved by fellow strength athletes around the world!
Nicknamed VIP, Vince Peterson has been competing in powerlifting for an incredible six decades! Vince’s first powerlifting meet was in April of 1967. Over the course of VIP’s lifting career, he has been an elite level lifter in three different weight classes; respectively, the 165s, the 181s, and 198s. 2016 NYS Strength and Power Hall of Fame member Vince Peterson has held multiple state, national, and world records, and has competed in over 78 meets. VIP, out of those 78 competitions, has finished first 68 times, and was also inducted into the Rochester, NY Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Hall of Fame in 2007! For his tremendous support, Vince Peterson would like to give a special thank you to his training partner of over 32 years, Mr. Frank Salamone! Vince “VIP” Peterson attributes his achievements and longevity to the grace given and granted by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
