2016 Hall of Fame Inductee Rudy Sablo, was a fixture at virtually every weightlifting event in New York State.  Prior to Rudy becoming an official, he was a nationally ranked athlete.  2016 Hall of Famer Rudy Sablo was also selected as a coach to the Olympic Training Facility in Lake Placid, NY in the mid 1980s.   Rudy  was a man of tremendous knowledge, and was always willing to share his expertise.  He knew the rule book inside and out, and made it a point to discuss issues with athletes out of the sight of spectators.   Rudy Sablo was a gentleman, and a great contributor to the sport of weightlifting!
